BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Review
When you hear that a hair straightener can create beautifully curled locks you might be very confused. Before flat irons, most people would try to use a curling iron to straighten their hair, which was not very efficient. With some practice, however, it does work. One day a friend showed me the straightener she used as we got ready to go out, and it was the most amazing thing I had seen. She showed me how it worked on my hair and my life was never the same.
While that may have been a slight exaggeration, that iron proved to be a wonderful hair tool and definitely made it easier to deal with my hair. Most people with naturally curly hair want straight hair, but it always costs so much to get the relaxers and other products. Plus, wanting straight hair happens on a daily basis; some days I want curls and once those relaxers are in I have to wait a long time to get them back.
The best part about the straightening iron is that it can be used to curl hair too. Through experimentation and practice, I have discovered things that a flat iron can do that you wouldn’t think possible based on its simple appearance.
The shapes and style of the curls you get with a flat iron are very different to that of a curling iron. You need to make sure you get an iron that is the right shape. I specifically wanted smaller, tighter curls which meant a smaller iron was required. Typically, the size of the iron will dictate the size of the curls that you get. There are several unique features that make this particular iron a great deal.
The Advantages of a Thin Body
Although the plates are 1-inch thick, the BaBylissPro Nano Titanium looks much smaller. The outside and around the plates are also very thin. The body around the plates and handles area great deal thinner than alternative ceramic options on the market. Due to its compact size, it is ideal for smaller and tighter curls.
Unlike many other irons on the market, the plates of the BaBylissPRO Nano are titanium. Most other plates are actually metal with a ceramic coating, but the plates on this one are completely titanium; no covering. The main difference I have seen with ceramic versus metal plates, is that there have been more instances of burned hair with metal plates. I have to add, though, that in these cases the exact makeup of the metal was unclear, but definitely not titanium, which has a more reliable reputation.
The plates on this iron are 5 inches long, which is longer than the standard for hair straighteners. This means that you can cover more of your hair in each approach. It will not take as long to get the look you want, because these longer plates get the job done in half the time.
This iron also comes in different sizes, which you will want to consider since size of the iron is related to the size of the curls. You can choose from variations between 1-inch to 1.5-inches. If you have longer hair, you may want to opt for the 1.5 inch but again your choice will depend on style. If you know someone that has one, it is best to try one out to see which size will work for you.
The Heat you Need
Heating up to 450 degrees quickly means you do not have to wait long to style your hair. This is more than enough heat for any hair type and any more actually would not be good for your hair. If you know that you have sensitive hair, you need to consider the heat settings on these irons before purchasing.
Most irons these days have far-infrared heat and negative ion technology, so it is nothing astounding. However, these features do hold in more moisture and the longer titanium plates help to lock the moisture into the hair. One warning that comes with this iron is that it can be prone to leaving static which gives a frizzy appearance. If your hair has more body than you want it to, this iron may not work for you.
You Need to Switch Off
As any user of curling or straightening irons is aware, automatic turn off features are especially desired. Electric timers are simple and very efficient because everyone at some point forgets to turn the iron off.
For whatever reason, the BaBylissPRO Nano does not come with an automatic switch, so that’s something to keep in mind.
Overall, the Nano Titanium seems the way to go, even for those of us who are partial to ceramic irons. Regarding metal plates, titanium is a tougher more reliable quality of metal and is used for more professional flat and curling irons. Titanium provides super-fast heating and perfectly high temperatures making it a top pick. The shape is excellent for straightening, curling or any other fun projects you have for your hair. The versatility of this model combined with a reasonable price makes this a great iron for anyone looking to try something new.
